Trading system
Posted on June 11th, 2009 CommentsSomething I’ve always been interested in is trading and have always wanted to take the time to work out a system of my own. Any ideas? What do you follow?

New beginnings
Posted on June 10th, 2009 CommentsIt seems I am constantly restarting this blog but I suppose this is in part who I am. This is likely not news to anyone of the people who know me. Recently, my life has changed drastically and part of the new me I want to develop this blog into something. Let’s see if I can find a way to stick with it.

Winnipeg Folkfest
Posted on March 16th, 2009 CommentsAs it currently stands, my wife and I, plan to attend the Winnipeg Folkfest this summer. In preparation of our trip I am going to be going through the list of performers alphabetically and I will put up a video or two for each band. If I can get the time I’ll also put down a thought or two I have about the band and whether or not I’m excited about seeing them.

The Dusty Foot Philosopher and k-os
Posted on March 10th, 2009 CommentsMy wife introduced me to K’naan quite a few years ago now when he was a guest speaker at her school.
K’Naan - “Soobax”
ZD YouTube FLV PlayerInterestingly, another Canadian hip-hopper took offense to the filming of the above video in Kenya and took a shot at K’naan with the following rhyme “They took cameras to Africa for pictures to rhyme / Over; Oh, yes, the great pretenders [...] Religious entertainers who want to be life savers.”
k-os - “B-Boy Stance”
ZD YouTube FLV PlayerK’naan responded with a mixtape saying: “You the all-knowing with a beer bottle / Wishing you was Plato and me Aristotle? / …Suburban negro turned hip-hop hero / Is there a reason he really hates me, though?”
K’naan talks about it in the following video from Hard Knock TV:

Joel Plaskett
Posted on March 9th, 2009 CommentsFormer lead singer of the band Thrush Hermit has had a fairly sucessful solo career. Recently, a great friend of mine recommended I give the 4th album “Ashtray Rock” a listen. It is a very interesting listen and quite poignant.
In another one of life’s strange coincidences, I was listening to one of Joel Plaskett’s solo songs at the time I received this email and that’s what I want to bring to you today… Joel Plaskett’s 2005 release “La de da” has a song that strikes a note in me.

Introductions
Posted on February 26th, 2009 CommentsI consider my self a Manitoban but the truth is I’ve lived all over. The largest love of mine aside from my wife and family is music. The sad fact of the matter is I contain very little musical talent so instead I have turned my love towards the appreciation of music, and I mean appreciation, there is very little music that I dislike and you will soon come to see my very eclectic tastes and likes.
This blog is likely going to start with an exploration of different songs I like and we’ll see where we go from there. I’d love to have your participation and feel free to chime in whenever you feel inspired.
